Bagging A Discounted Disney World Hotel Room by David Brights
Getting a discounted Disney hotel room, at the Walt Disney World Resort, is easy if you follow this advice.
Do go to the official Disney website at www.disney.com and sign up to receive Disney newsletters and mailings on any special offers. If they bring any special packages out, hopefully you will receive an email.
Do search message boards for details of recent discounts.
Do call Disney reservations and just ask for a discount. Also ask if they have any manager's specials or special offers.
Do be persistent. Discounts for Disney hotel rooms come and go, and you want to be the one calling when they do become available.
Do try to get an up-sell. It works like this. If you want a discounted price on a deluxe Disney hotel room, check availability at Disney's website, to see if they have your travel dates for any of the moderate resorts. If they don't, call Disney reservations immediately, and ask if there's availability at one of the moderate resorts. If they say no, ask if there's anything else available. They may offer you an up-sell on a deluxe resort, at a lower rate.
Don't worry about calling Disney reservations repeatedly – every day if you need to.
Don't forget to have a back up plan, in case you don't luck out. Book a room that you can comfortably afford. You can always cancel it nearer the time if you get a better deal.
Don't give up. The closer to your trip you get, the more chances of a better deal.
Another option is to call Disney reservations and ask outright for a discount. Make the first call about three months before your trip. You may need to call several times before you have any luck, but be persistent, and don't worry about calling a lot. Disney World has hundreds of reservationists, so you're unlikely to get the same one each time.
When you call, ask if your preferred room is available. When they give you the price, tell them it sounds a little expensive, and ask if they have any discounts or managers specials. If they don't, ask if they have discounts or specials at your chosen resort, ask if they have any at another resort. The trick is to keep calling, as discounts on Disney hotel rooms come and go all the time, and they will be snapped up quickly once they are released.
You could also try for an up-sell. For example, maybe you're trying to get a discount on a Disney deluxe hotel room. First, check availability at Disney's website, to see if there is any availability at one of the moderate resorts, for your trip dates. If there isn't, you may be in luck. Call Disney reservations immediately, and ask if there's availability at one of the moderate resorts. If they say no, ask if there's anything else available. They may offer you an up-sell at one of the deluxe resorts, at a lower price.
